Privacy in the Digital Age

Referring to the lecture on Privacy in the Digital Age, there was one thing which caught my eye; the fact that cameras may be able to detect the way we walk. It is supposed to be used as a way of spotting the "criminal" in the crowd. To me it seems unlikely that this could work, as I would think that it is very easy to disguise our walk, just as we easily can change our appearance. Though, specialists claim that it is extremely difficult to disguise our walking style.

I also found an interesting article claiming that spy satellites may soon be able to identify us from our shadows, in an attempt to find terrorists. Right now though, it is almost impossible to identify people from images from space because of low quality or bird-eye view pictures only getting the top of somebody's head. The technology is still at a very early stage of development and it might take many years before police and military can actually start using it. Critics say that this technology will not be very reliable as weather conditions might hinder us from even having a shadow.
