Recently, I went to the School of Music presents, NZEMS. During the event, I could explore meaningful connections between music, art, and technology. I would like to share with you guys enclosed the photos and videos.
Basically, bricktable is a multi-touch and tangible interface that is designed by Owen Vallis and Jordan Hochenbaum. It built for exploring the intersection of visual computing and electronic music. Through the use of a large multi-touch surface, multiple participants can simultaneously take part in the social act of manipulating sound within a visual medium. The idea of bricktable is similar with the reactable that was presented in Bjork’s music. But the main difference between them is base on fingers tracking and images tracking respectively.
Those devices seem abstract but the idea can be applied in our daily livings. For example, weather report is an effort to explore sonfiying data into musical compositions. Users are invited to draw a path on a colorized map of the United States, detailing currents surface temperatures.
